Director-General Hrvoje Meštrić, PhD participated in the discussion on Croatia's accession to the OECD scientific committee

Director-General for Science and Technology Hrvoje Meštrić PhD, actively participated in the 124th session of the OECD (Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development) Committee for Scientific and Technological Policy (CSTP), held in Paris on 25 April 2024.

At the Committee, a discussion was held on Croatia's accession to the OECD, after which the accession process in this area was successfully completed.

Representative of the OECD Secretariat, Mr. Mario Cervantes briefly presented the main observations and conclusions on Croatia's compliance with OECD recommendations in the field of scientific and technological policies. It was pointed out that Croatia is in line with OECD recommendations, and long-term recommendations on open science, international cooperation and policies on digital and green transition were presented.

Director-General for Science and Technology Hrvoje Meštrić, PhD presented past and planned activities aimed at further and stronger alignment with OECD recommendations and presented national research and innovation reforms, activities and plans. After the presentation, questions from the OECD member states followed, to which Director-General Meštić responded successfully.

Finally, Croatia's efforts to strengthen science and technology policies and keep pace with European and global good practices were recognized, with the aim of further international networking and strengthening of the national research and innovation potential.
