Minister Fuchs participated in the informal meeting of ministers responsible for research in Slovenia

Minister of Science and Education Prof. Radovan Fuchs, Ph.D. participated in the informal meeting of Ministers responsible for Research held on July 19, 2021, in Kranj, Slovenia.

Ministers discussed on topic of European Research Area and translation of shared European objectives to action on national level.

Minister Fuchs has again supported the goals set by the European Commission in the area of research and innovation investment and their alignment with national strategic documents. Minister Fuchs has pointed out the importance of Commission's instruments that provide support to preparation of national plans, reforms in Member States and gathering of relevant data and performing studies on topics of relevance for Member States. Concluding, Minister stated that he expects all countries associated to Horizon Europe to continue being an integral part of the European Research Area.

In the afternoon, ministers exchanged on topics of balanced openness in the new global approach to research and innovation. During the discussion, Minister Fuchs has emphasized on the importance of international collaboration in area of research and innovation that is led by openness and support to Union’s common values. Minister pointed out the necessity for flexibility when it comes to new political priorities or unforeseen circumstances, as the one during the coronavirus pandemic.

During his visit to Slovenia, Minister Fuchs held bilateral meetings with his Austrian counterpart, minister Univ. - Prof. Dr. Hans Fassman and State Secretary for Education, Research and Innovation, Prof. Dr. Martina Hirayama.
